Sarzameen Movie Review :’Sarzameen’ swings between the complicated relationship of father and son and the mother’s sacrifice, but the acting is strong

Sarzameen Movie Review: Sarzameen is a patriotic film directed by Kayoze Irani. The film is released in 2025 and is jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Star Studios. The film stars Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in lead roles. The film depicts the story of an army officer’s family who loses their son… and then the same son comes back involved in terrorism. The story shows emotions, struggle and patriotism as well as a deep family bond.

What is the story of Sarzameen?

In the film, Prithviraj Sukumaran is playing the role of Colonel Vijay Menon who can go to any extent for his country. Kajol has played the role of his wife Mehar and Ibrahim Ali Khan has played the role of his son Harman. The story begins with Vijay capturing a major terrorist of Pakistan and for this success his wife Mehar organizes a party. In this party Mehar asks her son to say something for his father but his son Harman stutters while speaking and looks scared. Vijay feels embarrassed about this and leaves from there.

Actually Vijay wants Harman to be fearless like him but on the contrary Harman is a little weak and timid. Because of this he does not get the love from his father which he needs. Meanwhile, terrorists from a neighboring country kidnap Harman and demand the return of their comrades in return.

At this point Vijay has to choose between his country and his son and Vijay chooses his country. Eight years later, during a campaign, Vijay meets his son but in a completely changed manner. Vijay starts getting suspicious of his son’s mannerisms and on the other hand, he gets many messages from across the border in which someone sitting there tries to help him by giving information about the upcoming attacks. After this, there are many twists in the story and this family drama on the lines of patriotism seems to be turning into a thriller.

Weaknesses of the movie Sarzameen

  • The story is a bit weak and some scenes seem too long, which slows down the pace of the film.
  • There are some twists in the film which seem to be forced and complicate the story.
  • Ibrahim Ali Khan’s acting is fine. He looks good in action scenes but looks a bit weak in emotional scenes. He needs more practice.
  • Some parts of the film like the functioning of the army and security do not seem real, which raises questions about its authenticity.

  • Prithviraj Sukumaran’s acting is very strong. He portrays the helplessness and anger of a father very truthfully.
  • Kajol plays the role of a mother who is worried for her son. Her role is very emotional and effective. She has brought tears to the eyes of the audience in many scenes.
  • The conflict between patriotism and family is shown very well in the film. It shows that the heart of a soldier is also the heart of a father.
  • The valleys of Kashmir, snow-capped mountains and beautiful locations give a visual beauty to the film. The camera work is excellent.
  • The background music and songs of the film help in feeling the emotions deeply.
